Crossfire is ATI cards, SLI is nvidia cards.

It's the joining of two (or more) graphics cards to increase performance of the system. Can render alternate frames etc depending on the configuration. Css supports this now as well I believe (think i posted a gfx a while back)

I just had a little hunt round the cp (control panel) and dived into the power settings for my win7 desktop. Seems that on an install of win7, the power settings default to "balanced", Flip the switch to High Performance (its probs under the little accordian) and you might see a bit of dif...

Another thing cl_allow_uploads 0 as well. Shove that in console if you don't use a custom spray.
