Re: Odd Problem
tis happening halfway through browsing aswel
this is what that ping thing shows
when i try to ping to my own IP, 192.168.2.1, it does 3 lines, then the cmd prompt window automatically closes :S
also managed to get the other suggestion working Bam, using a different trace address thing
that request timed out thing at the bottom worries me a tad :S
this is what that ping thing shows
Code: Select all
Request timed out.

Re: Odd Problem
dont let that worry you, eventually its gonna hit a firewall or some other sort of filter thats stop echo requests getting through.
the bit that i would be concentrating on is the fact that during a constang ping request it just drops and rejoins again.
try this: start -> run -> cmd-> hit enter
in the command prompt type exactly: netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt
once complete, restart your pc and let me know if its any better.
if that fails, have you tried updating your NIC drivers? replace the patch cable connecting your PC to your router. or are you on wireless?
apart from that it could be an issue with the BT lines that have gone down like gav said. Even though your xbox stays up it could be that the xbox just doesnt react to a drop as quickly as your PC so its back up again before the xbox has a chance to alert you. Since when has this problem been occuring. If it started on the weekend then my bet is that its still a problem to do with the BT lines.

Re: Odd Problem
Are you really "opening" a "Start->All Programs->Accessories->Command Prompt" window and typing the ping command at the prompt??ping to my own IP, 192.168.2.1, it does 3 lines, then the cmd prompt window automatically closes
Sounds like you just entered the "ping" command in the "run" option of the start menu. If you miss the "-t" off the ping command it will only ping 3 times and if you start the ping directly from the 'run' menu, the window *will* close when the ping finishes.
If you want a quick way of opening a command window, type "cmd" in the "Start->Run" menu.

Re: Odd Problem
while i love you guys for your ideas i think Gav may have been right,
i just fucked off to play Street fighter for a bit, left me system idle for a while, came back and its working..... no drops..
ive changed nothing between it working and not working lol...
Gav might well be able to enter smug mode in a moment lol if this holds out, ill keep ya posted tho if anything changes, but atm its been stable for a good 20-30 minutes, no requests timed out..
wha? im so confused now lol
