Re: broadband best company for gamming ???
Virgin media is good, (its UPC here) I use them on 10Mb broadband and have little/no problems
Re: broadband best company for gamming ???
I use BE and never had a problem with them for gaming... whereas previously i've used eclipse and plus.net and they were pretty good, but had a bit of announced downtime... and plus.net towards the end kept going down for no reason
Re: broadband best company for gamming ???
i think i made a post about this a while back when i was moving provider.
A lot of ISP's throttle your traffic, if i were to pic any ISP i would go with BE or O2 (which is who im with), i also hear good things about plusnet. I know the ISP's ive mentioned dont throttle their traffic from when i read up on it a while back.
I went with O2 purely because i have an o2 mobile which means i pay £9 pm for a 20meg connection which is damn good. i get silly speeds always, download at average of 1.2 mbps. I am only .5 of a mile form the exchange though.
First how much do you spend currently?
Next find out how far you are from the exchange and then go to BE, O2, plusnet etc and put ya post code in to see what speeds they can offer.
See what deals they have going on.
there are lots of sites out there that have info on gaming broadband. I think gavac put up a list of providers that dont throttle traffic but i think along with my post it got house cleaned and i cant remember the research i did before i moved provider so of the top of my head this is the best i can give at the mo

can recommend Titan, no throttling what so ever, all data treated the same, be it p2p, game or browsing

Be*, stellar pings, awesome bandwith (I'm on 12/1.3 Mbit), no downtime.

Have to go with plusnet, had virgin and had big problems also had zen internet which were great! But zen does cost a bit.
If you go with plusnet go for the gammers package your get better latency with games etc etc.
Also if ya go with PlusNet put me in as a referrer thundercat71, Ill get 50p off my bill every month (wont cost you anything).
So if ya got the dosh Zen Internet and great, else Plusnet.

Fast.

The UK's highest rated ISP. Speak to real people at any time, and if they dont answer in 3 rings, then they ring you back within 10mins gauranteed. Now thats service! Very fast indeed.
No PHORM, and not connected to any other company!

they are all available - they are using BTs system. Sometimes you might have an option of LLU (Local loop unbundling) which means their kit is in the exchange as well. This usually means you get more for your money (because BT means big thief)

If you chat with Fast, you can pretty much tailor your connection needs. I got them to match the competiion on price and bandwidth, but the service they provide is 10 times better! Can't recommend them enough. Read the reviews of people like me, who are very happy customers, with decades of various ISP's in their history.
