OMG - They Capped Me - Now 1 Meg

I cant believe it

I am a BT Broadband Customer on Option 3 - £19.99 per month

I have been capped on my download speed to less than 1 meg (Normal speed 7meg)

I am always downloading stuff from the net and for the 3rd time I have downloaded over 100g now on the other 2 times I did this I got them to remove the cap by moaning (am good at that) but no this time the cap is in place for the next 30 days - how will I manage

I did get a warning email when I got to 80g but I thought I could talk myself out of it as I have in the past

Utter drivel! Your exchange is not locked down. You can move to anyone that resells BTs ADSL service which is just about everyone. I use Zen - just downgraded to the active product because they doubled their caps and I don't see why I should pay for what I don't use. Active is £25 a month, was on their Pro product (£35) which now has a cap of 100gig a month. Contract term is 1 month. Zen is a qwality product. You may be able to get 100gig a month for less. Pay for what you use you cheap northerner!!!

I suspect its not just what your downloading , its what your uploading on your hosting... ( I bet your hosting those technical manuals again... lol )

I think jumping ISP is a bit extreme if im honest, but if you do change over, just check out and see what the support is like for an alternative. The other thing with the monthly contracts, which I think is a great idea, is that it also gives them a chance to LOWER the caps or INCREASE the prices as well on the next period ( unlikely, but possible ) so it can work for and against you, you may have to keep an eye on the terms...
