CPU at full

Hi guys,
I'm having a prob at the mo with my PC, when I start to play CSs , my CPU1 goes up to full whack ( as indicated on my G19 keyboard ) , I have checked to make sure all 4 CPU's should be working and they are, I have taken off some of the shadows etc in advanced vedio settings , but still have the problem, have searched web , but no solution there.....any ideas would be grand.

Re: CPU at full

This might help , you need to right click the game in your library > properties > set launch properties> -threads 4

-threads: According to Mike Durand of Valve, the Source engine defaults to taking advantage of no more than three threads due to various issues. However a user can manually override this limitation by specifying -threads 4 (for quad core) on the command line. For anyone using an eight-core CPU, -threads 8 is also possible. Obviously if this causes any problems, remove this command.

Re: CPU at full

well, are you running task manager while in game? At least that means you could alt-tab across to it after the games warms up and the cpu utilisation charts will be displaying showing how the cpu's were loaded.
