Sorry to necro the thread but i have got hold of my win7 pro rtm copy and OMG!! its unreal.

Bare in mind I have a 2ghz amd with 2gb mem on my laptop... I can still load everything about a second quicker than vista could. couple things i have noticed

- when you have a window open press windows + down arrow to minimise the screen quick (double tap down to minimise all)
- windows + p gives you a connect to projector option :O

Also if you have a valid education address from a college or uni then you can get win7 for £30 :O google windows 7 £30 for more info

Such is the power i was installing vs2008 (on an xp virtual machine that with 1gb memory on it) and i still had the power of god for my apps :o

seriously impressed

The question is - Home Premium or Professional?

Would I lose anything by going to Professional?

Compare the features and see what you want. Obviously the lower editions will run faster as standard as they dont have as much installed/enabled. Professional is fine for everyday use (thats what im on) Itunes occassionally has a hissie fit. But that's all.

Anyone else got their copy yet? Mine was waiting at home when I got back today! Surprised as they said it wouldn't be out yet, let alone being delivered early by posties on strike!

Might wait til the weekend before I install, RC just fine for now - although what I'm really waiting for is full TRIM support for the SSD.

:D

edit: Seems I have the postal strike to thank for early delivery!! http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/new ... in-windows

Yea ive been running it stable for about a month now. Its awesome. Virtual Pc/Virtual Box both work a dream. RDC works with a virtual pc on the other end no problems.

Development is as quick as xp used to be :)

LOVE IT!!!!

OK Call me stupid but best say this just for education ;)

Dont go thinking you can buy the 7 upgrade 64bit and use it to upgrade the 32bit XP you all have, cos it wont work... even with a few of the hacks about it causes major problems! So don't bother if thats what ya trying to do.. Like me lol.

Will need to do a clean install, just dont want to back it all up... pain in butt ;)
