Looking to upgrade my PC , anyone got any advice on the following
Motherboard
Processor
8 or 16 gb ram
SSD
Going to re-use the case , Radeon 5800 and PSU (750 watt) that I have at the moment.
I'll probably upgrade the graphics card within 6 months and the PSU if needed.
I'm hoping to use this new setup for the next 2-3 years.

Re: PC Upgrade Advice
unless you are planning to run a number of virtual machines 8Gb is more than enough
SSD no brainer
Motherboard and CPU the best you can afforded ( I prefer Intel CPU's , core I7 , and a motherboard(ASUS) with the latest chipset)
But I suspect you know this already.

Thanks for the input guys , I'm looking for something a little bit more specific though , actual makes and models that you have in your machines or that you've used.

Re: PC Upgrade Advice
i got a samsung 840 pro 128 gb ssd the other week and christ its quick, i had a corsair force gt before that i can reccomend them both. as for ram i only use Corasir now had other brands over the years but its far and away the most stable & reliable (avoid OCZ utter shite) and i only use ASUS boards now for the same reason,
i would look at something like this,

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... ubcat=1427
or

Total cost about £570 not a bad rig for the money

Yeah Para , seen your post and had a scout around for those parts and that's what I came up with. I won't be buying at those prices though , got someone who can get me trade prices.

Fuck that just go ask some random woman to fix it.
And then replace your harddrive. There, new computer.

Re: PC Upgrade Advice
On this topic I just popped in a gigabyte Z77-DH3 mainboard with a I5-3570K with 16GB of DDR3-1600 RAMS on a Samsung 840 250GB SSD today and reused my corsair 520W power supply. Got two 12 800rpm fans and something called a Scythe Grand Karma Cross which looks like a fucking V8 engine for a heatsink with a fan mounted on top curling down onto the CPU.Weighs 750grams or so, and requires a mounting system that clinks it into the frikking MB. This shit is huge. But my box is literally whisper quiet.
