Controlling Ak spray, good or bad?

The spray from an AK is predictable, given enough time and practice you can learn to negate it by moving your gun the opposite way to the pattern. There's various youtube clips showing this but it basically means you can keep firing an AK whilst keeping a fairly tight spray.

I've noticed a lot of our walkins have this skill/hack. What are peoples views on it?

Is it fair reward for a skill learnt? Should we all try to learn this?

Or is it a form of cheating, negating the increasing spray of an AK?

Would genuinely like to know peoples opinions

Really? How can this be? Unless it's really simple I can't see how you could do this. What is the fire rate? Do they have to respond to every bullet and it's change of spread? Why is it not random?

I mean I do see people aim low if they are continuing to fire an AK. Is this what you mean? If so I see no problem with that.

The guns all have different recoil patterns relative to each other, but it is consistent for a given gun. Therefore, some people will learn the pattern of the guns they use the most. This is particularly noticeable on the AK since it is (effectively) the best gun and has a larger vertical recoil.

Getting used to the recoil pattern is just about trying to get better at the game, like improving aiming and reaction time or better anticipation of player tactics/behavior.

It's not something I've done, I just aim down, but I'd imaging a lot of people who have pushed themselves in competitive play have looked explicitly at the patterns. Since CS:GO is designed for that competitive game type, a lot of people will just be used to the spray patterns/recoil of guns at this stage.

To me, it is just part of the game and nothing more. It does potentially indicate that the player is more competitive than casual though, and possibly not suited to our server in that regard.

The AK spray goes up and then to the right and left in a set pattern, there are clips on youtube on the pattern (sorry can't access youtube atm to give examples). Seemingly it's just a matter of practice.

To me it's a moral question (don't think it's trolling, apologies if anyone interprets it as such). To me it seems against the spirit of the game but then should I/we spend the time to learn it to keep up with the walkins?

I can't decide, hence asking for peoples views.

Ok sorry i just couldn't tell from tone Mirthy. Controlling spray is what i thought the entire challenge in csgo and one of the most appealing things as it sets a high skill ceiling. Learning the consistent spray pattern and how to negate it is all part and parcel of csgo. Nothing wrong with it at all.

Found this that I think perhaps explains it best, (link to all guns below the image).
If you learn to aim down, then slightly to the right, across to the left, right, bit down, back left then you can release a whole clip of 30 bullets in a reasonable tight pattern:

Also explains why there are walkins on the server who unleash a whole clip of a deagle whilst retaining accuracy.

Not easy and would likely take a lot of practice, hence the question of whether it's an admirable skill to learn or not in the spirit of the game/our server.

It takes a long time to perfect this shit. Just get the start of the pattern close enough and aim for the head.

The red dots (fading to yellow) at the top are the spray ie where your bullets will go.
The countdown is the number of bullets left in the clip.
The pattern is the movement you have to do with your crosshair. I think the glowing pattern is exhagerated so you can see the shape and the grey cross is the movement you'd actually have to do.

As the others say above it must take a bloody long time to learn and for it to come naturally.

ye, i find my self pulling mouse way down when spraying with AK, and i'll hit a head shot when the AK is pointed at their knees

This is 100% not cheating/hacking. If it is, then the majority of people playing cs is cheating.

There is no way for us to control something like this, it's part of the game. There will always be people better then us. As long as people are following the rules and not cheating for real, like aimbot or ghosting. Then we will have to live with that they've just learnt to pull the mouse down and a bit to the left then to the right at the correct moment.

We have enjoyed playing CS with all kinds of people for a shit ton of years and we will continue to do so even if someone is better. (I hope)

I agree with semper.
Learn the weapon and aim with it is no cheating. Everybody has the same option and can learn it or leave it.
